Activision Attacks Mario Kart Franchise in New Advert

If you live in the UK you'll know that some people are big fans of the television show Top Gear, while others are more fond of Tiff Needell and his competing show Fifth Gear. Just like how some people like their racing games to feel like a simulator and others prefer a more arcade approach. Blur is probably a game that will appeal more to the second group of people, because while it contains real-world cars, it does away with just about every other aspect of realism to deliver its thrills.

The latest television advert for the game takes aim at another racing genre: Mario Kart. The insinuation is that while BLUR might not have the realism of Gran Turismo, it's still a darn sight more intense than our old favorite multiplayer kart racing franchise.

While this advert doesn't actually show us much of BLUR, we'd like to have a crack at that other game as well. Clicking through on the video will take you to a hilarious website featuring more of the Kart characters as they attempt to break out into the 'real world'. Who knows, maybe Activision could make a Mario Kart clone without infringing Nintendo's copyright if BLUR turns out to be a flop.
