World of Zellians Announced for Wii

The company with perhaps the worst name in the world has announced that they are working on a game with one of the worst titles for a video game ever. Portugese studio GameInvest is bringing a real-time strategy title to the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC called "World of Zellians". We hope that something has been lost in the translation and that the game will get a more suitable name as we get closer to its release this fall.

A cross between familiar god games like Populous and Black & White, World of Zellians allows players to manage the big picture. It is described as "a strategic life simulation game where players must create, manage and grow a prosperous new civilization while caring for the wellbeing of the community."

The "community" in this case is filled with a race of people with the unfortunate name of Zellians. As the supreme ruler (we like the sound of that) of the Zellian planet, players must manage a range of Zellian needs, and help evolve the primitive tribe of Zellians into a self-sustaining and prosperous urban society. Hopefully we also will be given the option to punish the Zellians when they misbehave. Players will develop the society by building streets, farms, ranches, watermills, and other structures. It does not appear that the Zellians have advanced very far beyond agricultural technology, at least in early screenshots like the one below.

The game adds a new twist to the god-game formula by adding an antagonist. Players will be charged with protecting the Zellian society from another evil god called Zorm. The Zellians live in darkness and fear of Zorm, and players must provide a positive force that brings hope and happiness to the Zellian world. There are many “areas of influence” in the Zellian world that are controlled by Zorm, and players must take control of all these areas and increase their influence over the Zellians in order to succeed in the game.

The Wii version might be the one to get for real-time strategy fans. The developer claims that the wiimote will enable the game to use a point and click interface very similar to other strategy sims on the PC.
