Will Nintendo Wii U Have The Same Impact As Its Predecessor

The Nintendo Wii U has a lot to live up to following the wildly successful Nintendo Wii. Will the Nintendo Wii U have the same impact though that its predecessor had on the gaming industry?

The Nintendo Wii launched amidst a great deal of hype and anticipation in the gaming industry.

What the Nintendo Wii managed to do was to bring motion-controls to gaming in a way never-before seen with its very unique control input.

The Wiimote and Nunchuk proved to be extremely successful in appealing to hardcore gamers as well as casual gamers alike.

The Nintendo Wii quickly turned into a casual gamer's haven though, bringing in new people to video games who have never played games before.

Games such as Wii Sports and Wii Fit appealed to new audiences, gamers who were introduced to this form of entertainment, some of them for the very first time.

The impact was so great that Microsoft and Sony copied it as quickly as possible to try and capitalize on the success. This gave birth to both the PlayStation Move on the PS3, and the Kinect on the Xbox 360.

Will the Nintendo Wii U be able to have this same type of impact?

The Nintendo Wii U wil bring yet another new controller input style to gaming, with a controller that is a combination of an Xbox 360 controller and an iPad in a sense.

The controller will feature a large touch-screen, as well as two analog sticks and buttons.

The touch-screen controller, just as the original Nintendo Wii experienced, was initially not well-received by many gamers.

This is going to prove to be a whole new experience, and could in-fact change gaming all over again.

It appears though that this time out, they are not looking to bring new people into gaming. Instead, with the Wii U, they are going to try and advance the casual gamers and turn them into more serious gamers.

Will it work, only time will tell.
