Back in April we featured a story on how Norwegian Cruise Line's (NCL) intended to add Wii to its fleet of ships. It was the first cruise line to offer guests a chance to experience Nintendo's red-hot Wii video game system on board its ships. Well now due to the phenomenal success of the Wii, this summer will see theme parks, cruise ships and street teams making the Wii part of summer fun.

As the Nintendo press release puts it:

Leaving home this summer doesn't mean leaving behind the fun of your Wii video game system. Nintendo's hot-selling system is making appearances in fun locations around the country to give people of all ages a chance to sample it and experience a whole new way to play video games.

"This summer, Wii will be where gamers and their friends and family are gathering to have fun," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "The best way to understand the fun of Wii is to try it for yourself, which is why we've made it easy for people to find it in numerous places."

Some of the places people can find Wii this summer include:

* Six Flags Theme Parks: Wii is the Official Gaming Console of Six Flags parks. Six Flags offers complimentary game playing at Wii gaming stations throughout select Six Flags-branded theme parks.
* Norwegian Cruise Line Ships: Wii systems are currently on all Norwegian Cruise Line ships. The systems are equipped with Wii Sports, Wii Play, WarioWare: Smooth Moves and Excite Truck.
* Nintendo Street Team: The Nintendo Street Team includes a trailer and two SUVs equipped with all the hottest and upcoming Wii and Nintendo DS games. The Street Team will be touring the country attending fairs and festivals, local events and select NASCAR races all summer long to give people the chance to sample games for both casual players and the hard-core gamer. For a complete calendar of where to find the Nintendo Street Team, visit www.nintendo.com .
* The Dick's Sporting Goods Kick-It 3v3 Soccer Tour presented by Sports Illustrated For Kids: Nintendo will join this 53-city soccer tournament, which runs now through August. Wii systems will be on display showing off sports-themed games like Wii Sports and Mario Strikers Charged (after it launches on July 30).
* In Your Travel Bag: Consumers have found that the Wii system is so compact that it can be toted from place to place in a small carry-on bag. That makes it one of the first home video game systems that can easily be toted onto an airplane. So whether you're traveling by car or plane, off to visit grandma or just get away for a while, everywhere you go, be sure to pack your Wii too.

Since it launched in November 2006, Wii has become a social phenomenon. Wii bowling leagues have sprouted up, retirement communities are using them for recreation and libraries are using them to draw a crowd and create interactive programs that attract younger readers. Wii continues to introduce the world of video games to new audiences, and systems sell out as fast as Nintendo can manufacture them. For more information about Wii, visit www.Wii.com.
