Square Enix have been busy recently what with key announcements of cross-platform releases and their new action RPG 'The Last Remnant', they still found time to sit down with GamesRadar (via Cubed 3) to discuss its exclusive Nintendo DS version of Final Fantasy XII.

Producer Eisuke Yokoyama and Writer/Director Motomu Toriyama both explained how the original light-hearted feel of the Final Fantasy games inspired the direction XII on DS has taken. They also discussed why Think and Feel was brought on-board for Revenant Wings. Similarly to how Matrix Software dealt with the remake of Final Fantasy III, their experience in the portable RTS field proved invaluable. The scenario and graphics were a joint effort between Think and Feel and Square Enix, with Square Enix taking control when issues arose.

Toriyama-san was also asked about his involvement in another spin-off, Final Fantasy X-2, to which he replied he prefers to deal with light-hearted adventures, taking on the scenario when conflict has already been resolved, after the main adventure has taken place. He wrapped up by stating the US audience should take to Revenant Wings due to its high levels of freedom in the gameplay.
