The popular Spectrobes franchise from the Nintendo DS will now be coming to the Wii Console. Disney Interactive Studios today announced Spectrobes: Origins, the next adventure in the action-adventure franchise, exclusively for the Wii. The publisher has stated that Spectrobes: Origins will be released in the fall of 2009. for those who aren't familiar with the handheld games, this franchise follows the exploits of a planetary patrol officer named Rallen, who must collect and train creatures to do battle with an intergalactic menace named the Krawl. Collecting new creatures is handled by finding and excavating their fossilized remains.

This new console game will contain a completely new story that reveals secrets from the past through flashbacks of significant events. In Spectrobes: Origins, players will use the Wii motion controls to explore large 3D worlds, excavate three-dimensional fossils and unravel the plot while discovering the key to preventing a galactic threat.

The first two games on the Nitendo DS were quite successful, so there is a good amount of excitement for this new title. The original Spectrobes and Spectrobes: Beyond The Portals games have shipped more than 1.6 million units worldwide.
