Sega's MadWorld No Longer Wii Exclusive?

Sega's new action game Madworld might be coming to other platforms besides the Wii, according to a classification by the Australian ratings board. The listing on the official classification database describes Madworld as being a “Multiplatform” title, suggesting that it could be headed to the Xbox 360, PS3 and even the PSP. Somehow we doubt that a DS port of the ultra-violent game is in the works but perhaps Sega is hoping to shake things up a bit on the Nintendo hardware family.
Porting the hardcore title to more adult-oriented consoles certainly makes a lot of sense from a marketing perspective. A game in which the only color used on screen is expected to be red, MadWorld has drawn criticism for bringing excessive violence to the family-friendly Wii console. Perhaps Sega is having second thoughts about the popularity of the game as a Wii exclusive now that Nintendo has moved squarely into the casual market with its system.
In MadWorld, players take control of a character named Jack, who must compete in a grizzly television spectacle called Death Watch. Jack has a chainsaw attached to one of his arms, which makes his job of cutting through piles of hapless enemies that much easier. Throughout the game, players will meet and do battle with a variety of other foes with different mechanisms attached to their bodies, Dr. Robotnik style.
MadWorld is set to appear on March 31, 2009 for the Wii. Look for an update when we hear more about the possibility of a multiplatform release.
