Nintendo Reigns Victorious In Wii Balance Board Suit

Nintendo has been under a lot of pressure as of late due to a patent lawsuit files against them in relation to not only the Wii Balance Board, but as well as the release of the Nintendo Wii game, Wii Fit. Thankfully for Nintendo, the company has prevailed and reigned victorious in this battle.
A U.S. District Court judge in the state of Maryland has come out and made the decision to dismiss a lawsuit against Nintendo.
The lawsuit was filed against them with the allegation that they infringed on a series of patents when they developed the Nintendo Wii Balance Board as well as the Wii Sports video game release.
IA Labs CA is the company who filed the patent lawsuit against the big N, as the company believed that they held a series of patents that were infringed upon.
The company held patents which they claim entailed an exercise device that was strikingly similar to what Nintendo ended up developing with the Wii Balance Board, as well as the way it worked with Wii Sports.
The patent detailed a "computer interactive isometric exercise system" which would work together with a computer peripheral.
Nintendo must be extremely happy with the ruling as the company was steadfast in their belief that they did not infringe on any patents at all when they developed the Wii Balance Board peripheral, or the Wii Sports video game release.
Nintendo of America Senior Vice President, Legal, Rich Flamm put out a press statement after the announcement, staying that "Nintendo has a passionate tradition of developing innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others. We vigorously defend patent lawsuits when we firmly believe that we have not infringed another party's patent. We refuse to succumb to patent trolls."
Chalk this one up as another victory for Nintendo, as they clearly felt that the IA Labs CA company was simply seeking to benefit off of the huge success Nintendo enjoyed with the Wii Balance Board as well as Wii Sports. This is not the first time Nintendo has faced issued in regards to patent infringement lawsuits, and like all other technology giants, it likely will not be the last time either.
