Monster Hunter G Wii Release Details

In anticipation of the upcoming Wii exclusive Monster Hunter 3 (Tri), Capcom is releasing a port of a different, older game in the Monster Hunter franchise. Monster Hunter G first saw release on the PS2 back in 2005. It was later ported to the PSP handheld as the uber successful Monster Hunter Freedom. In Japan, this game has achieved record sales for its appealing 4-player local multiplayer. To recreate the all-important multiplayer aspects of the title, Capcom promises that the game will have internet multiplayer. However, this service will be paid subscription only, using Wii points to add more online time.

Monster Hunter G Wii will ship on April 23 in Japan for the price of 3990 Yen ($45 USD). We imagine that the slightly lower price of the game reflects the additional cost of online connectivity. A special edition of the game will also be accompanied by a special classic controller. The game requires use of a classic control scheme, so the controller add-on is likely to be a popular item. It also looks pretty cool with its blue and yellow style, helping to get players into that jungle mood.

As a special treat to Monster Hunter fans, all copies of the game will be accompanied by an exclusive Monster Hunter 3 demo. So far there is no word on how extensive this demo will, be, but we can imagine lots of people will be excited to pick this up.

No word yet on a North American release for Monster Hunter G Wii, but we imagine that it will precede the release of Monster Hunter 3 by several months when it finally comes.
