Miyamoto Patents Cheat System

Just in case you thought that video games of today had become too difficult, Shigeru Miyamoto is here to read you a book, tuck you in and make everything alright. The Japanese god of video games has invented a new system that enables gamers to get hints and directions while playing games on the fly.

Nintendo has filed for a patent on the system in the United States, which would assist players by taking control of their avatar to show them the correct way to beat a difficult section of a game. The program, which acts kind of like a set of training wheels, is accessible either from portable storage media or an online database.

What this means is that unlike the annoying paperclip or Bonzi Buddy that Windows users may already be familiar with, players will have access to a superfriend in game who knows all the answers. This digital incarnation of Miyamoto himself could guide players through any game, presumably because his gaming skills are simply so great.

The device would also allow players to save and restart from any point in the game, and view cutscenes from games at will. The device would also allow users to record and share their own solutions for difficult portions of games:

“Each player may be allowed to create his/her own "approach movie" based on the operation history. The "approach movie" created by each player may be uploaded to the server. When the hint button 102 is pressed, the server may be accessed so as to view the "approach movies" created by various players. As a result, a player may be prevented from becoming stuck with the game for increased certainty. Further, when it is possible to create and upload his/her own "approach movie", a player can enjoy introducing his/her skill in the game approach to another player, and the game becomes more enjoyable.”

While we would never require such a device in a million years, we applaud Miyamoto for being awesome enough to invent something this cool. We look forward to hearing how the rest of y’all, who suck at video games, enjoy using the system.
