According to a Famitsu Marketing Data Service report covering sales through April 29, the Nintendo DS has reached an install base of 10 million users in Japan in just 15 months since its release. The PS2 comparatively needed almost three years to reach the same goal, says Famitsu.

Nintendo's software also continues to dominate the market - occupying 7 of the top 10 current software sales spots and 15 spots out of the top 50 overall, with the latest Phoenix Wright game, Gyakuten Saiban 4, occupying the top spot.

As sales continue to soar in Japan, we can only hope even more Japanese DS wackiness escapes and lands on our shores.
