Donkey Kong 3D Reportedly In Development For Nintendo 3DS

According to the latest rumors, Donkey Kong is set to make his debut on the Nintendo 3DS handheld in the form of Donkey Kong 3D.

The news originated from an online forum (DKVine.com), as a gamer reportedly went into EB Games and took a picture of a pre-order box for Donkey Kong 3D.

The empty boxes of Donkey Kong 3D were reportedly lined up with the rest of the major Nintendo 3DS pre-order titles, including the highly-anticipated Super Smash Bros. 3DS release.

This was a very interesting turn of events due to the fact that Nintendo has yet to announce that they are even working on a game in the Donkey Kong franchise for the Nintendo 3DS.

With that said, one would think that the box would either have to be a fake, or a mess-up by an employee simply showing the title and putting it out on a store shelf too early.

We will have to wait and see how all of this plays out as Nintendo could certainly be gearing up to announce Donkey Kong 3D for the Nintendo 3DS at this years E3 event.

Checking out GameStop.com though (EB Games is the same company) shows that there is no Donkey Kong 3D up for pre-order.

Reading further on the DKVine.com forum reveals that the game was not available for pre-order in that particular EB Games retail store either.

This is a very interesting story that could certainly go either way in terms of whether or not it is valid.

If Nintendo were indeed working on a Donkey Kong 3D release for the Nintendo 3DS though, you would have to think that it would most likely end up being a remake of the Donkey Kong 64 release.

This would be a fairly simple port for Nintendo, similar to what they were able to accomplish by bringing Starfox 64 over to the Nintendo 3DS, as well as Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.
