Activision Announces Transformers Video Game

Activision has announced a new Transformers movie spinoff, coming to all consoles later in 2009. And by all, we really do mean it. The PS3 and Xbox 360 will get a current-gen action title, while Krome studios has been tapped to port the game to the PS2 and Wii consoles. There are even a pair of (collect them all!) DS games headed our way from Vicarious Visions.

The new game is probably intended to capitalize on the (inevitable) popularity of the upcoming Transformers sequel, which is coming to theaters in June. The game will be called Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

So far, there isn’t a whole lot of information about gameplay, but we did receive a press release this morning stuffed full of adjectives like “exciting” and “adrenaline pumping”, so we’re pretty sure you get the idea.

Here’s a sample from Rob Kostich, vice president of global brand management:

"The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game will give fans the chance to experience their favorite AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS in an all-new, movie inspired adventure packed with the thrilling and explosive action that only the TRANSFORMERS universe can deliver. We are thrilled to announce that after experiencing the rush of commanding colossal robots on their own, players can challenge their friends for the first time ever in full-featured, blistering multiplayer action as their favorite characters."

Phew, that is a lot of adjectives. But as far as we can gather, Activision is talking about a multiplayer brawler featuring playable robots from either the Autobots or the Decepticons. See guys? It’s not that hard to write a press release.
