Tatsunoko vs Capcom: US Version Gets New Characters and Online VS

Tatsunoko_vs._Capcom-t.jpg

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, the fighting game that no one believed would get an American release just got its Criss Angel on and freaked our minds. Not only is the game being released in the US, but it's getting a mega upgrade in bonus content.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a license-heavy game that pits Capcom characters against those from Tatsunoko, a Japanese animation company founded way back in 1962. A few of those cartoons even made it to American shores, such as the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series, Speed Racer, Gatchaman, Macross, and Samurai Pizza Cats shows. A short list of the Tatsunoko characteres are found below. I defy you to recognize more than half.

When the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom fighting game was released on the Wii in Japan, it seemed safe to assume complicated licensing issues would kill any chance of it being ported here. But Capcom is in a sort of fighting game renaissance as of late. Super Street Fighter II: Turbo HD Remix was a rousing success that along with the eagerly anticipated SFIV release revitalized and modernized the franchise. The fervent community support propelled the recently released Marvel vs Capcom 2 to its top spot as most-downloaded XBLA game. Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is then a natural continuation.

The wait has been worth it - we will be getting 4 new characters plus online multiplayer. What more can we ask for as fans? Capcom, we heart you!
