Super Mario RPG Comes to Virtual Console

This is a special week for fans of Mario, Nintendo, and the Virtual Console. The company has announced the release of its 250th Virtual Console title (how time flies!) and to celebrate this momentous event, Wii owners will get an extra special release this week: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars!

Super Mario RPG is a game that many fans have been clamoring for ever since Nintendo began re-releasing retro games for the Wii. The legendary game for the SNES featured pretty much the same characters and settings found in every other Mario title. But this game switched up the script by featuring solid console RPG game mechanics for the very first time. Surprisingly, the strange combination worked out rather well, a testament to the skill of the designers at Square Enix who helped create the game. Even though Super Mario RPG is more than a decade old, having first appeared in 1996, it still holds its own as an entertaining and worthwhile addition to the Mario franchise.

For those who have never played Super Mario RPG, this is a must-buy for fans of the mushroom kingdom and for those who appreciate a good role-playing game. Super Maro RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is available now for the price of 800 Wii points.
