Super Mario 3D Land Nintendo 3DS Cheats, Secrets

Super Mario 3D Land has enjoyed a great deal of success as the premier title for the Nintendo 3DS. As with all past Mario releases though, there are always a lot of secrets in the game that gamers may not be aware of.

We have seen secrets in many part Mario releases, including Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, and others, so it is no surprise that Super Mario 3D Land has some hidden gems of its own.

Mysterious Special World - There is a hidden world in Super Mario 3D Land that gamers at first are not able to see. In order to unlock the mystery world known as Special World, gamers must complete World 8 successfully in the game and it will be unlocked.

Save Game File Stars - You have the ability to increase the number of stars on your saved game file, getting it all the way up to 5-stars. In order to get the first star, you must defeat Bowser in the last level of World 8. The next two stars are obtained by completing all levels with Mario, and then Luigi. Collecting all gold flags in all of the levels unlocks star number 4, and collecting all star coins unlocks the 5th star.

5-Stars - Obtaining the 5-star icon on your saved game file as detailed above will unlock the final level in the game.

Unlocking Luigi - You can unlock Luigi by completing Special World 1, obviously with Mario. He will then become a playable character.

Secret Test Level - You can get to the secret test level by not moving at the title screen. The test level will start if you remain still for long enough.

Alternate Title Screen - Save and exit the game in a Special World level, this will enable the alternate screen.
