Spectrobes: Origins Preview and Videos
One of the most popular handheld games on the Nintendo DS is getting an all-new Wii version this week. Disney Interactive will launch a follow-up to its two DS titles (Spectrobes and Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals), which have collectively sold more than 1.6 million copies. This new Wii game is called Spectrobes: Origins, and it is a prequel that explores events leading up to the handheld adventures. The game is available in stores starting August 18, 2009.
Spectrobes: Origins features an original story that reveals secrets from the past through flashbacks of significant events. Spectrobes: Origins has detailed three-dimensional graphics on the big screen as well as some updated gameplay features. Players will use the unique Wii controls to explore vast worlds, excavate three-dimensional fossils, battle in real time and unravel an engaging story while discovering the key to preventing a galactic threat. As you can see from the gameplay video below, Spectrobes: Origins features plenty of hack-and-slash action, with some RPG elements thrown in for good measure.
Spectrobes: Origins Features
• New in-depth story that reveals secrets from the past
• Innovative design with never seen before 3-D excavation system
• Play as either planetary patrol officer Rallen (male) or Jeena (female)
• Large-scale, real-time boss battles that require both speed and strategy
• More than 100 monsters to excavate, awaken, train and use in battle
• One-player experience or two-player co-op in battle (one player controls either human character and the other controls a Spectrobe)
• Innovative code input cards enable new monsters to be unlocked
• Online leaderboards on the Wii system let players compare their excavation and battle abilities with others players worldwide
