More Mamas For Your Dollas

Publisher Majesco has a good thing going with its Cooking Mama franchise and boy do they know it. But whereas some companies are content with stapling roman numerals to the end of their game's title --- ahem **cough** Activision**cough** -- at least Majesco isn't afraid of throwing in a twist.

Get ready for Gardening Mama when it sprouts onto the DS on March 31. Tend to fruits and vegetables in this new garden themed mini-game collection. The DS landscape certainly has a wide enough market to justify branching the franchise into this new direction. Publishing casual games was a big winner for them last year, why not this one too?

Majesco is not satisfied with just one innovation though. Last week, they filed for the trademark of Crafting Mama with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent secures their right to brand software, joysticks, screen cleaning cloths, and other video-game related accessories with the Crafting Mama title. Are they officially moving into the accessory business? If Gardening Mama succeeds and Cooking Mama continues to pay off, expect Majesco to muscle into Martha Stewart territory soon enough.
