Kirby's Dream Land 3 on Virtual Console

North American Wii owners got a special retro treat this week, as Nintendo announced Kirby's Dream Land 3 for the Virtual Console. This classic SNES title supports 1-2 players and sells for 800 Wii points.

Kirby, Dream Land's resident hero (and everyone's favorite pink puffball), must once again save the day when the mischievous King Dedede starts causing trouble. Kirby must travel through an assortment of levels, battling an exotic array of enemies (both new and familiar) determined to stop him from completing his mission. Gameplay as awlays centers around Kirby's unique ability to swollow things. Helping Kirby to satisfy his appetite also grants the player special skills. For example, swallowing a fire-based enemy gives Kirby the ability to shoot fireballs at other foes.

Kirby's Dream Land 3 came at the end of the SNES lifespan (originally released in 1998), and is one of the best platformers from that era. Featuring detailed graphics, challenging boss battles and the distinct charm of a Kirby game, it's no wonder this title is considered a classic.
