Etrian Odyssey 3 Character Classes

Etrian Odyssey 3 is an upcoming RPG for the Nintendo DS that features open-ended exploration of a 3D cavernous world. This sequel moves the action to a new location: beneath the waves. The first two games were a huge success on the platform, manly because they appealed to people like us who enjoyed the challenge offered by old-school RPGs. One of the most innovative features of the Etrian Odyssey franchise is that it asks players to create their own maps of the world, using the touch-screen input of the Nintendo DS. In most other ways, however, the series is a bare-bones classic RPG featuring turn-based battles and difficult boss encounters.

At the heart of the classic RPG formula are the character classes. In Etrian Odyssey 3, these are quite imaginative and will allow players to create a team of warriors whose skills complement each other. Here, we have compiled a description of each of the character classes available in Etrian Odyssey 3 when the game arrives in Japan on March 4th. Expect Atlus to announce a North American version very soon.

Ballista --These are projectile weapon experts, who will most likely thrive in the back row. They've mastered the use of longbows as well as body-sized cannons.

Beastking -- Holding mastery over and being able to communicate with beasts, they have the power to invoke creatures to fight alongside the player.

Farmer -- These pragmatic folks want to extract the resources that lie within the labyrinth. They possess abundant skills to help your party explore, but are somewhat weak in combat.

Phalanx -- A front-row tank character that has stong armor and can soak up abuse from frenzied opponents. Also carries a sharp stick.

Pirate -- Masters of the sea, these enterprising characters aren't afraid of getting their feet wet, or impaling a sea monster on the end of their cutlass.

Prince(ss) -- These aristocrats are mostly clueless when it comes to fighting, but they are able to rally teammates using their inspirational oratory skills.

Monk -- This class is about two things: beating enemies up with bare fists and healing using the power of meditation.

Shinobi -- The shadowy ninja character excels at sneak attacks rather than direct onslaughts. weak in terms of armor, the Ninja can be a powerful ally against unprepared enemies, no matter how large.

Warrior -- Possessing a honed body and equipped with a large sword or blunt weapon, they are experts in combat. Their battle style is mainly offensive, making them vulnerable to counter-attack.

Zodiac -- These zodiac astrologers have the power to collect the element of "ether" that exists in the sky, using it as a catalyst for their star arts/techniques.
