2K Play's Nickelodeon Dance Takes Center Stage in All-New Video Game Lineup
This fall Dora grooves to the music with her Nickelodeon friends; Team Umizoomi make their mighty math gaming debut and Dora & Kai-lan's Pet Shelter focuses on animal care giving
K Play and Nickelodeon today announced Nickelodeon Dance is coming to the Wii system and Kinect for Xbox 360 this holiday season. It's the first children's dance game to feature characters and music from the popular preschool programs Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, The Backyardigans and The Fresh Beat Band. In addition, Team Umizoomi is making its video game debut on Nintendo DSTM by combining action and adventure with an interactive math curriculum. Rounding out the lineup is Dora & Kai-lan's Pet Shelter for Nintendo DS, with game play highlighting playful pet care and adoption.
"2K Play's new lineup of Nickelodeon games speaks to our mission of keeping young gamers active, as our top-selling Nickelodeon Fit will be complemented by the innovative Nickelodeon Dance," said Steve Lux, vice president of business development for 2K Play. "Furthermore, we're adding popular new characters to our games, like The Fresh Beat Band, and maintaining our focus on fun and learning with Nickelodeon's preschool sensation -Team Umizoomi."
"The new 2K Play titles match the interactivity and fun of the Nickelodeon series that preschoolers love," said Shaan Kandawalla, Vice President of Digital Retail Games for Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group. "Our young Nick fans will be able to join their favorite characters on exciting new adventures with these video games that encourage active play and the development of important social skills and cognitive learning."
Nickelodeon Dance for Wii and Kinect for Xbox 360 sets the stage for gamers big and small and is designed to help kids stay physically active as they groove alongside their favorite Nickelodeon friends. The lively dance songs include theme tracks from favorite preschool series such as Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego Go!, The Backyardigans, The Fresh Beat Band, as well as other popular licensed hits sung by Nickelodeon characters. Dance routines were developed in collaboration with a recognized children's dance choreographer and special exercise-focused routines will be included to encourage active play and promote fitness.
Team Umizoomi for Nintendo DS is the first video game featuring the mini and mighty math superheroes of Nickelodeon's top preschool program of the same name. Gamers will help Millie, Geo and Bot kick off Umi Celebration Day by using their math skills to save a seahorse, enter a race around Umi City, become a playground hero, and more.
Found a pet in need? Turn to Dora & Kai-lan's Pet Shelter for Nintendo DS. The two Nickelodeon characters team-up to care for lost pets and find them homes. Kids will perform vet check-ups like a real doctor and practice basic pet-care skills to ready the animals for adoption. Once pets are adopted, they aren't gone for good because Dora and Kai-lan pet sit too!
Nickelodeon Dance for Wii and Kinect for Xbox 360, Dora & Kai-lan's Pet Shelter for Nintendo DS and Team Umizoomi for Nintendo DS will be available this November and have not yet been rated by the ESRB. The console titles are being developed by High Voltage Software, Inc. and Nintendo DS titles by Black Lantern Studios, Inc.
